Laser Hair Removal in Izmir
Laser hair removal is a light-based treatment used to achieve long-term reduction of unwanted hair. It works by delivering wavelength-specific energy that is preferentially absorbed by melanin in the hair shaft and follicular structures. Who May Be a Good Candidate?
Suitability depends more on the relationship between hair pigment and skin characteristics than on sex alone. Treatment may be considered for women and men with unwanted terminal hair when the expected benefit and risk profile are appropriate.
- Darker, coarser hair: generally contains more melanin and is usually a more responsive target.
- Fine or lightly pigmented hair: may respond less predictably.
- Grey, white and very lightly pigmented hair: usually responds poorly because there is little melanin for the laser to target.
- Hormone-sensitive areas: such as the face may need a different discussion because underlying androgen or endocrine influences can affect new hair growth.
Adolescents should be assessed individually. Ongoing pubertal or hormonal change can affect treatment response and future hair growth, so age alone should not be used as a guarantee of suitability or permanence.
When Should Treatment Be Postponed or Reassessed?
Recent tanning, sunburn or significant ultraviolet exposure can increase competing melanin in the skin and may raise the risk of burns or pigment change. Treatment may therefore need to be postponed until the skin has returned to a safer baseline.
Active infection, open wounds, uncontrolled dermatitis or another inflamed skin condition in the treatment area should also be reviewed first. Pregnancy, relevant medication, photosensitising treatment, previous adverse laser reactions and important medical conditions should be disclosed during assessment.
A broad label such as “sensitive skin” or a history of cancer is not, by itself, a complete treatment decision. The diagnosis, current treatment, medication, skin condition and anatomical site must be considered individually.
How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Hair grows in cycles. Laser treatment is most effective when a follicle contains a sufficiently pigmented hair in a responsive growth phase. Because not all follicles are in the same phase at the same time, one session cannot reasonably be expected to treat every future hair.
The dermatologist or trained clinical team evaluates the treatment area and adjusts parameters such as fluence, pulse characteristics, repetition, cooling and treatment interval to the patient’s skin and hair profile. Higher energy is not automatically better; excessive heating can increase the risk of burns and pigment change without guaranteeing a better result.
Velux 755–808 nm Dual-Wavelength Diode System
The Velux system used in the clinic combines 755 nm and 808 nm diode wavelengths within one platform. The practical value of the system is not the wavelength label alone. Skin type, hair diameter, treatment area, cooling, pulse settings and operator technique remain decisive.
The device should therefore be described as a dual-wavelength diode laser platform, not as a separate Alexandrite laser. Device selection and settings are adapted to the patient rather than applying one fixed protocol to every area.

There is no universal session package. The number and interval of treatments depend on the area, hair cycle, hair colour and thickness, skin type, hormonal influences, prior hair-removal methods and response to earlier sessions.
Body areas with dense terminal hair may behave differently from facial or hormonally influenced sites. Treatment intervals should follow biological regrowth rather than a rigid calendar. After each session, the response and any adverse effects should help determine the next step.
What Results Should Be Expected?
The goal is progressive reduction in the number and thickness of responsive hairs. Regrowth may become slower and finer over time. Complete and permanent elimination of every hair cannot be guaranteed.
Results may be less predictable when hair is very fine, lightly pigmented or hormonally driven. New hair can also develop later because of ageing, endocrine changes, medication or other biological factors. Maintenance treatment may therefore be considered only when there is meaningful regrowth and the skin remains suitable.
Recovery and Aftercare
Temporary redness, perifollicular swelling, warmth or sensitivity can occur after treatment. The duration varies with the area, skin type, parameters and individual response; it should not be promised to disappear within an exact number of minutes.
- Avoid deliberate tanning and excessive sun exposure as advised.
- Use broad-spectrum sun protection on exposed treated areas.
- Avoid aggressive scrubs, peeling products or irritating actives until the skin has settled.
- Do not wax, tweeze or epilate hairs between sessions if this would remove the follicular target needed for the next treatment.
- Follow the specific interval and shaving instructions given for your treatment area.
Increasing pain, blistering, crusting, marked swelling or an unexpected pigment change should be reported promptly.
What Affects Laser Hair Removal Cost in Izmir?

Is laser hair removal permanent?
It is more accurate to describe the goal as long-term hair reduction. Many responsive hairs can become fewer and finer, but complete permanent removal of every hair cannot be guaranteed.
